What is PIM software?
PIM (Product Information Management) is a system for managing data on product cards in stores and trading platforms. Its tools help to create a common database and differentiate editing rights for employees. With the introduction of PIM in eCommerce, there is no need to process thousands of documents with similar descriptions, so you eliminate 90% of routine actions such as working with cards on each site.
What is PIM?
It is a set of tools for filling out product cards. They store data about all items, allowing you to edit the database instantly and change info in many cards simultaneously. It optimizes the delivery of the modified specifications to all online sales points and catalogs.

A simple example: a retailer sells 15 phones with similar specifications in different marketplaces. It will take a long time to edit each item. With the help of PIM, this process is much faster because the data on all cards changes at once.
What are PIM tasks?
It is a multifunctional tool that is actually a repository. It stores all the data about products, features, prices, and discounts. Thanks to API technology, the toolkit integrates with any corporate systems of consumer-oriented B2C companies.
The main tasks that PIM deals with:
Updating info in several online points of sale at once.
Automatic conversion of formats.
Differentiation of levels of access to data for editing.
Convenient working with text and graphic content.
Simplification of data exchange between online and offline stores and with partner companies.
PIM can be an add-on to an ERP system (software for enterprise resource management) to enhance its functionality and simplify working on the characteristics of goods and assets.
What is PIM for suppliers and manufacturers?
Thanks to centralized data storage, manufacturers make changes directly to the system, and they are immediately transferred to the product cards in stores. If there are product variations, then the key characteristics change in them as well.

So, the database works according to the following scheme: there is a general data table with links to the cards that change when you edit the database. The reference to the value remains the same, so changes in the table are instantly reflected on the product page. In other words, PIM optimizes managing product data at all levels.
